Library Cards:
The Island Free Library only accepts Ocean State library cards. There are three ways
you can get a card.
1. To get a Block Island Resident Library Card you must meet one of the
following options:
- a. Have a valid RI License, or Car Registration (with a Block Island street
address)
- b. Be a property owner and listed in the current tax book.
There is no fee for this card.
2. If you do not live on Block Island but are a Rhode Island resident you can
get a card by meeting one of the following criteria:
- a. Have a valid RI License
- b. Have a R.I . State picture ID
- c. Have a Rhode Island college or university ID
There is no fee for this card.
A Resident card allows you to check out a total of 15 items at a time, put up
to 5 books on reserve from other libraries and use our computers.
3. If you are from out-of-state you can get a Visitor Library Card.
- a. There is a $25.00 non-refundable fee
- b. You must show a current License or some form of picture ID
A Visitors card allows you to check out 5 items at a time and to use our
computers. It is valid for one year from date of registration.
